The Monet Chair is a handcrafted lounge chair made from rattan and produced by Sika-Design, a company with a history of innovation in rattan furniture making since the 1950s.

The Monet Chair's intricate weaving makes for an aesthetic that is both elegant and visually relaxing. As a lounge chair, it was designed with comfort in mind. Its seat softly curves inwards and leads to the chair's wide back. The Monet Chair's shape and look therefore form a truly cosy piece for the home.

Made-to-order cushions are available in a range of natural colours that complement the chair's rattan framework. It can be paired with the Monet Footstool to create a relaxing space of matching elegance. 

Sika-Design, despite being Danish, is geographically based in Indonesia, a country where artisanship in wickerwork has been practiced and respected for centuries. Close attention is paid to all stages of the production process. The rattan, harvested nearby, is specially selected to provide durability and longevity for the finished product. The Monet Chair is then handcrafted by local artisan workers, through steaming and shaping the rattan by using simple tools and original techniques.

Rattan is among the most sustainable materials used in making furniture. Rattan regenerates in around 5-7 years and produces more than 35% oxygen than a tree, absorbing CO2 in the process. Sika-Design, in working closely with local rattan harvesters and artisans to produce quality furniture, is able to support forest-dependent communities and uphold our collective environmental responsibility.
