The Tuareg Blue Rug from the Nomad collection by GAN is a refined tribute to Indian artisanal heritage, reimagined with modern sustainability. Designed by Alejandra Gandía-Blasco Lloret, this piece draws inspiration from native Indian textures and traditional motifs discovered during GAN’s research travels across India. Crafted entirely from recycled PET fibres and woven on manual looms, this designer outdoor rug blends cultural storytelling with innovative craftsmanship.

Its distinctive knit-like pattern in calming tones of beige and blue evokes the cosy texture of woollen sweaters or scarves, reinterpreted into a flat, lightweight rug suitable for both indoor and outdoor spaces. With its kilim-like flexibility and minimal thickness, the designer outdoor rug is ideal for creating informal, relaxed environments with a sense of movement and adaptability—just like the nomadic communities that inspired it.

The Nomad collection, which includes rugs, poufs, and cushions, was envisioned to enable modular compositions. Pair the Tuareg Blue Rug with its 70 x 70 cm flat pouf and 60 x 36 cm cushion to design layered, low-seating arrangements that foster comfort and creativity. These elements can be stacked, shifted, and rearranged to suit different moods or layouts, embodying the idea of “double nomadism”—a freedom to move not just across places but within a space itself.

Despite its delicate aesthetic, this designer outdoor rug is robust enough for terraces, balconies, and relaxed garden seating areas thanks to its PET fibre construction. It’s available in two standard sizes with the option for custom dimensions.
