The Monet Outdoor Lounge Chair is a handcrafted lounge chair made from Alu-Rattan and Art-Fibre, produced by Sika-Design, a Scandinavian brand with a history of innovation in wicker furniture making since the 1950s.
The Monet Chair's intricate weaving makes for an aesthetic that is both elegant and visually relaxing. As a lounge chair, it was designed with comfort in mind. Its seat softly curves inwards and leads to the chair's wide back. The Monet Chair's shape and look therefore form a truly cosy piece of furniture for the patio or garden.
Made-to-order cushions are available in a range of natural colours that complement the chair's rattan framework. It can be paired with the Monet Footstool to create a relaxing space of matching elegance.
Sika has been renowned for its rattan furniture design since it began attending international furniture exhibitions in the 1960s; however, for decades, Sika’s rattan furniture was limited to the indoors, since rattan quickly degrades when left outdoors, in 2003, the company introduced its revolutionary first outdoor collection using synthetic rattan that started selling worldwide. The Monet Chair outdoor version was then created.
Alu-Rattan is powder coated aluminium with artificial fibre weaving created from maintenance-free polyethylene. These materials are then used in the chair’s construction by artisans in Indonesia, a country where wickerwork has been practiced for centuries. The result is the creation of a chair that can withstand the outdoor weather all year round without sacrificing the original craftsmanship which lies at the core of the highest quality rattan furniture.
