About Petite Friture
The History of Petite Friture: A Journey from Passion to Innovation
Petite Friture was founded in 2009 by Amélie du Passage, who transitioned from a promising career in the cultural sector to pursue her passion for design. A graduate of the prestigious HEC business school in Paris, Amélie began her career at the Ministry of Culture and later worked as an exhibition manager at FIAC, the International Contemporary Art Fair. It was during her time in the art world that she encountered emerging Parisian designers, inspiring her to launch Petite Friture—a brand that would focus on uncovering unexpressed talent and creating high-quality, affordable designs.
The name Petite Friture evokes a sense of vibrancy and creative energy, much like the excitement of sharing a meal with loved ones. From the outset, the brand was conceived as a collective workshop—a container of ideas—rather than just a company. Its mission is to produce beautiful, high-quality objects and furniture that embody the values of optimism, sharing, and freedom of expression.
Since its inception, Petite Friture has formed partnerships with over 30 locations throughout Europe and has collaborated with a diverse array of designers, including Pierre Favresse, Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance, Constance Guisset, India Mahdavi, and Studiopepe. These collaborations have resulted in iconic collections that have not only gained recognition in the design world but have also become permanent fixtures in prestigious institutions like MoMA and MAD.
Today, Petite Friture boasts a carefully selected distribution network across more than 30 countries, including the United States, reflecting its global reach and continued commitment to bringing innovative and accessible design to a wide audience. As it continues to grow, the brand remains true to its roots, celebrating creativity, collaboration, and the joy of design.
