Our latest Project at Battersea Power Station
Viva Lagoon joined forces with De Villiers Interior Design to design and furnish the terrace space of the Switch House show apartment at the iconic Battersea Power Station development. Viva Lagoon is known for providing luxury outdoor furniture while De Villiers Interior Design creates luxury interiors with sustainability in mind.
The apartment boasts a spacious terrace with stunning views of the London skyline. The layout was designed to maximise the use of the space and be a stylistic extension of the apartment’s understated, but durable and comfortable interior. The design combined teak with other natural materials such as stone and fine woven and textured fabrics and rugs to create an outdoor living space for a family to relax in as well as entertain their guests. The colour scheme was inspired by nature with a rich colour palette of greens, terracotta and burgundy. Sustainability was important when it came to the choice of products which included reclaimed teak and luxury outdoor rugs made from recycled bottles.
We added a double cocoon hanging chair and an opulent marble side table on the west terrace in front of the master bedroom to create a perfect way to relax with a book and a drink after a busy day at work. It’s the perfect place to admire the London skyline from when the sun goes down. The outdoor rope rug used in this space is available in different sizes and colours while the hanging chair is crafted from lightweight all weather outdoor rattan and is available at Viva Lagoon. Bringing the luxury of the interior outside is easy as we have a wide range of outdoor cushions and accessories that are guaranteed to enhance your outdoor space with a touch of sophisticated luxury.
The reclaimed teak bar used on the north terrace creates the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of bubbly while enjoying the fabulous views. You can use the bar cooler in the middle of the bar top to chill your champagne, white wine and beers on a hot summer's day or get creative, as we did, and make a miniature herb garden to add some fresh herbs to your cocktails. The bamboo high chairs that complement bar are not only super comfortable but hardwearing and weatherproof. We furnished the terrace with super stylish Talenti modular outdoor teak sofas with cushions that come in a choice of luxurious outdoor fabrics and colours. We added the Talenti Cleo coffee table with Carrara travertine top to add some opulence to this space. Who said marble can only be used for the interior? An outdoor rug was used to zone this space and scattered bespoke outdoor cushions and accessories were used to add further colour. Bamboo lanterns are strategically placed to add some mood lighting in the evenings. The terrace is the perfect place to entertain friends during the hot summer months. We have also created a luxury outdoor dining area by choosing a huge Italian teak dining table with laminated top from Talenti and stylish but hard wearing chairs from those always in vogue designers at Vincent Shepard. On the west terrace we added a bistro table with 2 bamboo chairs and its the perfect spot for a morning coffee or to read the morning paper. And don’t forget the beautiful textured outdoor rug. An outdoor table lantern turns this space into a romantic spot for dinner for 2 in the evening. On the east terrace we added a cosy corner with 3 handmade teak Gloster chairs from Germany. The cushions come in a choice of different hardwearing outdoor fabrics and colours. The rug we use to frame this area is made from recycled plastic bottles and handmade poufs offer useful extra seating. Bespoke cushions made from luxury outdoor fabric adds a splash of colour to this corner. All-in-all, this is without doubt the perfect space for work from home or just to relax in after work.
