The Charlottenborg Lounge armchair was designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1936 and shown for the first time at Charlottenborg's spring exhibition in 1937.
Originally called the Chair A. J 237 and was part of a series of original wicker chairs.
The curving shapes became very characteristic of Arne Jakobsen's many famous chair designs, which can be traced in some of his early pieces of furniture.
The armchair has a quite unconventional shape, where the elegant curved back of solid rattan goes in one with the armrests, both of which are beautifully integrated into the bottom of the chair.
